:: Ride up to Northern::

This past weekend, Brogan and I hitched a ride up to Marquette with friends of ours, Megan and Erik. It started out just great, Brogan was up for a little while, and then took his normal afternoon nap. He even stayed asleep for his second time over the bridge... which by the way for everyone who doesn't know as we didn't... they raised the toll to 3 bucks... BOOO

We had BEAUTIFUL traveling weather! and the leaves were beginning to change! It was such a pretty ride!

But what is every good traveling story without at least ONE problem? As we were driving on US 2 along the bottom of the UP, we can across some construction. So where there is construction there are ALWAYS detours. Now usually you can find a way around the detour, but we were in the UP in the middle of no where so we had to follow the rest of the tourists and take the same detour and when we did, we saw that the cars were at a DEAD STOP. Megan and I decided to do some investigating and grabbed our coffees, and sweatshirts and started walking up to see what was going on. After about a half a mile we were within sight of what was going on... an RV caught on fire and they couldn't let anyone go through.... We walked back to the car and we sat there for 55 minutes until we were able to get going again... Below are some pictures of Brogan messing around while we had some time to spare... and what was LEFT of the charred RV

By the time we got going again, it was getting dark out. We did get to see this AMAZING sunset though as we were driving the Seney Strech-> for those of you that don't know what the seney strech is... its about 30 miles of absolutly STRAIGHT no curves no turns boring highway... so this made it quite enjoyable
..... and we reached Marquette at about 8:30 just in time for Brogan to go crazy for a little while and then just CRASH.. he slept so good! I was so Proud of him!

::Introduction::

Although his life was unplanned Brogan has brought so much joy to ours. We found out we were pregnant May 21st, 2007, and what a shock that was. Looking back on that time now, as i look into his big blue eyes, I don't think we ever could have known what happiness he would bring with his arrival. I worked right up until my water broke at 4:40pm on January 15th. My heart was beating so fast as Buddy met me at my house (after i had to call and pull him out of an interview to let him know it was "TIME", he got the phone call he had wanted! Since I was scheduled to have an induction on the Thursday following and we both really wanted it to happen naturally. We got to the hospital between 6 and 6:30 and i was dilated to 5. After I got the epidural around 8:30 -9 I dilated to 10 within the hour, but was so numb that I could not feel my contractions to push. Poor Brogan was stuck there for another 3 hours with his head just trying to come out! We turned down the epidural, and when I could feel enough to push, it only took 1 hour and our baby boy was delivered into this world by his Daddy and Grandma Wood at 1:51 am on January 16th 2008. Grandma R and Aunt Chelsea and Aunt Brooke were also there to share that special moment and capture it with photographs and video. The rest of the family came in shortly after. What an amazing experience this has been...
